Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is an organization rooted in our commitment to scholarship, public service, and social action, with a primary focus on the Black community. We proudly offer the 1913 Scholarship which reflects our dedication to uplifting future leaders, supporting outstanding students in their pursuit of higher education, and making a lasting impact in our community.
This scholarship's objective is to support students who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, and a passion for service, to aid in the resources necessary to achieve their dreams and continue the legacy of making a difference. 🌟 Education + Service = Empowerment 🌟
2026 SELECTION CRITERIA
​Applicants must:
-
be a 2026 graduating student of any public high school or special learning program in Central or Southeast Kentucky;
-
attend an institution of higher learning as a full-time student for the upcoming fall semester, but no later than spring semester of the same academic year;

have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher;

have achieved any of the following:​

Involvement in community/ volunteer /civic activities

Noteworthy achievement(s) (i.e. school or community awards/recognitions);

submit a copy of their official transcript with GPA.​

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

The deadline for scholarship applications is April 3, 2026.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

Supporting documents required to complete this application include:

Official transcript with GPA

A 250–500 word essay addressing following:
-
"There have been many challenges to DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion); describe why achieving academic excellence is more crucial now than ever before."​

Proof of enrollment (an official letter of enrollment, a class schedule, tuition receipt, etc.) from the educational institution of your choice. Please note: a school’s letter of acceptance without proof of enrollment does not qualify.

Once the application is submitted, an email confirmation will be sent to acknowledge receipt of your application.
