2025 SELECTION CRITERIA

Applicants must be a graduating student of any public high school or special learning program in Central or Southeast Kentucky.

Applicants must attend an institution of higher learning as a full-time student for the upcoming fall semester, but no later than spring semester of the same academic year.

Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher, plus any of the following:

School or community awards/recognitions

Involvement in community/ volunteer /civic activities

Noteworthy achievement

Applicants must submit a copy of their official transcript with GPA.​

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is an organization of college educated women committed to its members’ constructive development and public service, with a primary focus on the Black community. We proudly offer the 1913 Scholarship to empower and support outstanding students in their pursuit of higher education. Rooted in our commitment to scholarship, service, and social action, this scholarship reflects our dedication to uplifting future leaders and making a lasting impact in our community.
We believe that community service is the foundation of true leadership and progress. By giving back, we not only strengthen our neighborhoods but also cultivate a spirit of responsibility, compassion, and unity among future generations. Through this scholarship, we aim to support students who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, and a passion for service, ensuring they have the resources to achieve their dreams and continue the legacy of making a difference. 🌟 Education + Service = Empowerment 🌟
SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

The deadline for scholarship applications is April 3, 2026.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

Official transcript with GPA

submit a 250–500 word essay on the following question:

"There have been many challenges to DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion); describe why achieving academic excellence is more crucial now than ever before."

Once the application is submitted, an email confirmation will be sent to acknowledge receipt of your application.​

Proof of enrollment (an official letter of enrollment, a class schedule, tuition receipt, etc.) from the educational institution of your choice. Please note: a school’s letter of acceptance without proof of enrollment does not qualify.
